Sessions will be held at the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce located, 267 W. Center St, Marion, Ohio 43302. Among other things, they will explain the upcoming requirement that employers file their quarterly tax reports electronically. Electronic filing will save you time and money and is the best way to protect your employees' confidential information. They will explain all of your options for electronic filing and answer your questions to help you determine which option best fits your needs.
Two options that you'll hear more about are SIDES and SIDES E-Response. SIDES, or the State Information Data Exchange System, is a computer-to-computer interface for employers and third-party administrators that typically receive a large volume of unemployment separation information requests. It is especially helpful to employers that operate in multiple states. SIDES E-Response is a free website that allows employers and third-party administrators to submit electronic responses to requests for separation information.
The sessions also will explain recent upgrades to the Employer Resource Information Center (ERIC), Ohio's internet-based unemployment tax system. ERIC is a one-stop shop that can help you manage all your business related to unemployment contributions, including registering new businesses, filing quarterly reports and making tax payments, among other transactions.
By attending, you also will learn more about recent legislation that paid off the balance of Ohio's federal Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund loan in 2016 to prevent employer taxes from increasing in 2017. Employers will see a net decrease in their overall unemployment costs per employee in 2017.
