The Impact of Marijuana Legalization on Ohio’s Businesses
DESCRIPTION:
There are operational, safety and financial implications for businesses
when marijuana is legalized for medical or personal use -- particularly in the areas of workforce readiness, operational issues and legal
considerations. This sector needs to be informed on the issue so they can make wise decisions about their drug-free workplace programs, and how to address the issue with employees, applicants, colleagues and business associates.
OBJECTIVES:
To understand the general elements of Ohio’s medical marijuana law (HB 523)
To understand the employer implications and protections of the law
To understand the operational, financial, safety and workforce challenges the law poses to the workplace
To explore best practice strategies for responding to legalized marijuana
